Selling Power!

Selling Power!, originally uploaded by nealdstewart.

I forget who it was, but some smart guy gave some advice on their blog and it said something like, “read trade magazines you’re not familiar with.”

Ok, so doing the most boring stuff known to man makes you smarter? Eff that.

This has to be one of the most boring magazines ever: Selling Power. And they are trying to charge $5 on the news stand.

In case you’re wondering, here’s who is advertising in Selling Power: Applebee’s Best Buy, Circuit City and Home Depot – for their gift cards – and a bunch of software and headhunters with incredibly bad ads.

    Neal,
I am the guy who started Selling Power magazine 26 years ago and my vision of our target audience didn’t include a Flying Dog trainer like yourself. I run three sales leadership conferences with 600 senior sales leaders three times a year and I do get an earful about the arrogance and ignorance of some marketing people. I went through your blog and wondered what does this beer peddler know about event marketing? Instead of trashing our magazine read my Selling Power cover story on Red Bull, you might actually learn a thing or two about event marketing. http://www.sellingpower.com/article/display.asp?aid=SP2229597
